Introducing myself
Get to know me and my page 'The Picky Plate'
Hi friends,
I’m so excited (and a little nervous!) to be starting something new here on Substack! As a mom of two wonderful but very picky boys, I’ve learned that mealtime isn’t just about feeding everyone… it’s about connecting, experimenting, and finding little moments of joy in the kitchen.
I decided to start my blog, The Picky Plate, on Substack because I’ve been craving something a bit more personal and meaningful than Instagram…a space that feels slower, warmer, and more like a real conversation. I love sharing recipes and tips, but I also look forward to following people also struggling with mealtimes for toddlers or even just the exhausting task of finding something to cook EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Here, you’ll find simple family meals, baking experiments, and ideas even the pickiest eaters might just say yes to. More than that, I hope this becomes a cozy spot for other moms, bakers, and home cooks to connect, share, and feel seen.
If you’re new here — welcome! Grab your coffee (or your cold, forgotten one), and make yourself at home. I’m so glad you’re here.
With love,
Dana T.

Hi Dana! Welcome to Substack! Great topics because I feel all our kids are picky eater! Can’t wait to see your recipes!
Oh I remember those days. When you thought they would die of starvation. My biggest tip for you is if they won’t eat something then try it in a different form. My daughter would never eat sweet potato but turn it into sweet potato chips and she would devour a whole potato herself. And ask for more. 20 years later she still loves them. You’d be surprised what they will eat as a chip!
Enjoy the journey. The hardest bit is starting. You’ve done that now. So the only way is up.
